Cameroon has sentenced 109 people to death for having links with terrorist sect, Boko Haram.
800 people are also being held by security agents in the country on suspicion of participating in terrorism.
This was disclosed by Cameroonian investigative journalist, Chief Bisong Etahoben via Twitter.
“Of about 800 persons held in Cameroon on suspicion of links to Boko Haram, 109 have so far been sentenced to death and awaiting execution,” he wrote.
“Yerima Abba Yusufa, a prince, has been arrested by gendarmes in Mora on suspicion of links with Boko Haram,” he added.
Cameroon had, in March 2016, sentenced 89 members of the sect to death. The insurgents were convicted by a military court for participating in a series of terrorist attacks in Cameroon’s northern region.
In December 2014, Cameroon adopted a controversial anti-terrorism law, which permits the death penalty as a sentence for perpetrators or accomplices of terrorist acts.
