CHINA. DEATH SENTENCE FOR ROBBERY AND MURDER

Jin Xiaoguo was sentenced to death for robbery and murder, while his accomplice was given 15 years in prison, the Shanghai No. 1 Intermediate Prosecutors' Office said.
Jin, 32, and Cui Meixiang, 18, both hailed from China’s Jilin Province. They reportedly went to Shanghai in June 2005 in search of work. After noting there were many rich Koreans in the city, they decided to rob one, prosecutors said. They rented a room and shared the apartment with a 51-year-old Korean. On July 21, Jin and Cui called the landlord into their room so that they could tie her up before robbing their roommate. The landlord, however, began to scream and they stabbed her to death with a knife.
