Danh Hai, a 20-year-old unemployed man, was sentenced to death

Danh Hai, a 20-year-old unemployed man, was sentenced to death in Vietnam for murdering a mentally ill woman and then raping her. Hai was found guilty of using a brick to beat to death the 21-year-old woman and then raping her dead body in October 2004. He was arrested a day after the crime and tried at a half-day mobile court, a proceeding frequently used in Vietnam in cases where there is overwhelming evidence to suggest the accused is guilty.
