Donald Loren Aldrich was executed. Aldrich, 39, was sentenced to death for shooting 23-year-old Nicolas West on November 30, 1993 in what authorities said was a gay-bashing hate crime. Aldrich told authorities he was involved in the shooting because he had been raped by a gay cousin when he was 9 years old. He was pronounced dead at 6:18 p.m.
Aldrich is the 2nd man executed for his involvement in the fatal shooting of West.
Henry Earl Dunn, 28, was put to death on February 5, 2003 (see, and see also MAY 13, 2002).
A 3rd co-defendant, David McMillan, who was 17 at the time, was convicted of aggravated kidnapping and aggravated robbery and received a life prison term.
