EGYPT: MAJORITY WANT MUBARAK EXECUTED

some 67 percent of Egyptians who took part in a voluntary online poll earlier this month support the death penalty for ex-President Hosni Mubarak. 22 percent oppose his execution. The opinion poll was conducted by the British "You Gov" agency. The support rises among young people for up to 77% in the age group of 18 to 24, and 70% among those aged between 25 and 29 years, according to the results of the poll which included in 1012 Egyptians. It was carried out between August 5 and 7. 48 percent of respondents said that Mubarak was "a dictator", and 46% considered him "corrupt". According to the poll, 40% described the toppled leader as "an ally of the West." Meanwhile, 61% of respondents conveyed that Mubarak exaggerated his health condition to gain sympathy of the people. Almost half of those polled support a strong role for the military in Egyptian politics, even after the creation of a new constitution.
