In occasion of the UNCHR Antoine Madelin, of International Federation of Human Rights Leagues, said that corporal punishments and discrimination against women persisted in Iran. In Algeria, there was continued impunity for forced disappearances, summary executions, and inhuman treatment. In the United States, arbitrary arrests, violations of due process, and summary executions were being carried out in the context of the fight against terrorism. In Vietnam, there were violations of the rights to freedom of opinion, expression and religion and that in the Republic of the Congo, torture, forced disappearances and summary executions went unpunished.
