October 7, 2026 - IRAN. Mohammad Amin Mandani sentenced to death

On espionage charge

The Iranian judiciary has sentenced Mohammad Amin Mandani, a political prisoner, to death and 20 years in prison.

Based on information received by Hengaw, Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Iman Afshari, imposed the sentences. The ruling was communicated to Mandani’s lawyer on September 29, 2026.

Mandani received the death sentence on the charge of “cooperation with hostile states” and the 20-year prison term for “assembly and collusion against national security.”

The allegation of cooperation with hostile states was based on claims that he had “sent the locations of certain sites.”

Mandani was arrested in April 2026 amid security developments related to the 40-day war involving Iran, Israel, and the United States. Following interrogation, he was transferred to Great Tehran Penitentiary, where he remains held.
