It is necessary to keep the death penalty as the capital punishment for grave crimes, the leader of People's Party of Armenia Stepan Demirchian stated in the interview with the radio station Freedom, touching upon the problem of the abolition of the capital punishment.
He also called groundless statements holding that the execution of the terrorists accused of the attack on the Armenian parliament would hide the truth about that crime forever.
"Keeping the death penalty does not mean that it will be applied immediately to the terrorist group headed by Nairi Hounanian. At the same time we are sure that the death penalty must be kept as a punishment for grave crimes", the PPA leader stated.
