Jordan's Military Attorney General, Mamoun Khassawneh, indicted 28 Arab nationals charged with planning bombing attacks on United States and Israeli tourists celebrating the New Year in Jordan. Fifteen suspects, including 13 Jordanians, one Iraqi and one Algerian, were held in custody since December 1999, and 13 others, including Jordanians, Palestinians and a Yemeni, are still at large. Khassawneh said that some of the suspects would face death penalties if found guilty by Jordan's State Security Court.
