Justice Minister Hikmet Sami Turk said that the European Court of Human Rights was continuing to examine Turkey's death sentence against the chief of the terrorist organization [PKK] Abdullah Ocalan.
Turk was responding to a question by True Path Party (DYP) deputy Ali Naci Tuncer.
He said that the death sentence against Ocalan was definite in Turkey but after Ocalan's lawyers appealed to the ECHR, this court asked Turkey not to execute him until a decision is reached and the Turkish government accepted this because of Turkey's international commitments.
