Low Soo Song, a 51 year old unemployed man, was sentenced to death by the Malaysian High Court for discharging a shot from a firearm while committing robbery. Low was charged with discharging a shot from a firearm towards Ooi Hua Siew, 24, while committing a robbery at a house in Lahar Bubu, Kepala Batas on March 7, 2001. He was charged under the Firearms Act 1971. The offence was punishable with a mandatory death sentence.
