“The Government has no intention of abolishing the death penalty.
“It is only provided for serious crimes such as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code and drug trafficking under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” Kayveas said.
Kayveas said the Government felt that there were adequate safeguards to ensure that the death penalty was not imposed with impunity.
