prison warder Mohd Nor Riza Mat Tahar was sentenced to death by the apex court in Malaysia, after serving a 10-year jail sentence for manslaughter. The 29-year-old was charged with murdering his colleague Mohamad Isnizar Yup, 29, at the parking lot of the bachelors' barracks, Seremban Prison, in Jalan Mathucumaru in Seremban at 7.30pm on July 12, 2002. He was sent to the gallows by the Seremban High Court on Jan 3, 2007, but the Court of Appeal overturned the verdict and reduced his murder charge to manslaughter. Nor Riza was then ordered to serve 10 years' jail. However, Federal Court judge Datuk Hashim Nik Abdul Rahman, in allowing the prosecution's appeal, said the court unanimously decided that the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubt and set aside the Court of Appeal's decision.
