Five of them had their death sentences commuted to life imprisonment and four to 20 years’ jail. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, in his written reply to Fong Kui Lun (DAP-Bukit Bintang), said the Pardons Board received 16 petitions from convicts sentenced to death between 2003 and May this year.
