Many Oklahomans are less confident now in the criminal justice system because of the wrongful conviction of an Oklahoma City man and the FBI's mistake that led to a stay of Timothy McVeigh's execution. Oklahomans were asked if the mistakes made in the case of McVeigh had shaken their confidence in the justice system. More than 1/2 of the Oklahomans polled said they were less confident in the criminal justice system because of errors recently revealed. Researchers surveyed 384 individuals and the poll has a 5 % margin of error. Almost 1/3, 32 %, think wrongful convictions occur "frequently" and 41 % more people think they occur "now and then."
