Mohammad Idris Mia, 35, was sentenced to death and nine others to various terms imprisonment by a Speedy Trial Tribunal in Chittagong, Bangladesh, after they were convicted of murder. According to the prosecution on March 10, 2001, the accused attacked Star Auto Rice Mills at Kasba and hacked to death Mominul Haq Billa, the son of its owner, and his employee Abul Kalam. On arrest Mia said Abdul Hamid, a neighbour of Billa, hired him and his accomplices for the killing with the intention of grabbing the property.
