Muhammad Shafiq, Arshad Ali and Muhammad Sarwar, alias Taina, were sentenced to death by an Additional Sessions Court in Pakistan after being convicted of raping a newly wed woman. Two others were acquitted in the case for lack of proof. It was alleged by the court that Ghulam Yasin was returning home along with his newly wed sister Samina on June 2000. As he reached a deserted area five persons overpowered them. They tied Ghulam Yasin to a tree and subjected his sister Samina to gang rape. They also stole her gold ornaments worth Rs. 22,880.
