Pernell Ford, 35, black, was executed by electric chair. He had confessed to having killed Linda Gail Griffith, 42, and her mother Willie Griffith, 74, during a robbery at their apartment in 1983. He was the third person to be executed in the State during the year, the 22nd since the State resumed executions in 1983. He was the 41st to be put to death in the U.S. during the year and No 639 since the death penalty was re-introduced in 1976.
