President Vladimir Putin met with the head of the People's Deputy group in the State Duma, Gennady Raikov

President Vladimir Putin met with the head of the People's Deputy group in the State Duma, Gennady Raikov.
Raikov raised the question of capital punishment, recalling that the State Duma adopted an appeal to the president, asking him to suspend the ratification of Protocol 6 (on the abolition of capital punishment). Putin stressed the need "to consider and discuss everything very carefully" before submitting it to ratification.
Raikov told the president that in his view "the Russian parliament will not ratify Protocol 6 in the near future".
