Presidential adviser on the peace process Eduardo Ermita said, despite declared a terrorist by the European Union, communist leader Jose Ma. Sison is not about to be expelled from the Netherlands to the Philippines because of its death penalty law. The European Union, however, is not satisfied with a mere assurance that Sison will be spared from the death penalty even if the communist leader is tried in a local court, Ermita said. President Arroyo ordered last month an indefinite suspension of the death penalty pending the congressional decision on the bill abolishing it. The order was issued in response to a request from ambassadors of European countries. Sison and other communist party officials are now facing deportation from the Netherlands after the Communist Party of the Philippines and the NDF were included by the EU in its list of terrorist groups.
