Richard Arinaitwe was convicted and sentenced to death by the high court of Uganda for the murder of an American woman, Maria Cecilia Goetz. The deceased was a volunteer worker with an American NGO, Minnesota Health Services. She was murdered on 28 July 1998, at Hotel Equatoria in Kampala. No motive for the crime was reported.
