Seikh Abdul Muyeed and his first wife Monwara Begum...

Seikh Abdul Muyeed and his first wife Monwara Begum were sentenced to death by the District court in Madaripur, Bangladesh, for killing Muyeed's second wife, Bela Begum, 20 for dowry. According to prosecution, Muyeed took Bela Begum to the house of his first wife's parents Norakandi on September 27, 1998. There they beat and fatally wounded Bela for producing a dowry of only Tk 20,000 from her parents. Finding her condition critical, Muyeed then poured poison in her mouth and took her to hospital saying that she had attempted to commit suicide. She died the following day.
