Sen. Panfilo M. Lacson proposed the Anti-Firearms Smuggling Act which seeks to define and penalize the smuggling of firearms in the Philippines.
"Right now, there is no penalty for smuggling of firearms, the penalty is only for possession of illegal firearms. What I'm proposing would be to penalize the smuggling and to make possession of the illegal firearms an aggravating factor," Mr. Lacson said.
The bill calls for the death penalty.
