Seven residents of the Staryye Atagi village had been sentenced to capital punishment by guerrilla leaders, a spokesman for the district administration told Interfax-Military News Agency.
According to the spokesman, guerrillas threatened 10 residents of the village, employees of the local administration and police department.
The guerrilla sentence was issued in revenge for assistance to the federal forces in carrying out anti-guerilla operations in the Staryye Atagi village. As a result of the operations the guerrillas lost several dozen weapons, a great number of ammunition and equipment.
Three out of the ten victims, including the deputy head of the Staryye Atagi administration, who were threatened with death, had already been eliminated, the spokesman stressed. The spokesman did not release the names of the people who are still under threat by the rebels.
