Shamsul Alam was sentenced to death by an Additional District and Sessions Judge Court in Bangladesh for killing his wife. According to the prosecution, Alam beat and hacked to death his first wife Zaheda Begum in Ghonarpara town on 2 July 1998, with the help of his second wife Halima Begum.
