Tajikistan's Supreme Court recently sentenced two residents of Bobojon Ghafurov District in [the northern] Soghd Region, Muhammadjon Asomiddinov and Murodjon Usmonov, to be shot.
They were convicted of premeditated murder with the utmost cruelty. The court sentenced a third accomplice in the crime, Abdusattor Rahmatov, to 25 years in prison.
Supreme Court judge Odinakhon Musoyev told Asia-Plus that in October 2001 the murderers stopped at the house of two elderly ladies, M. Umarova and R. Muminova, under the pretext of having a rest. However, the plotters intended to rob them of their two cows and three sheep. In return for hospitality, the criminals started beating the elderly couple with heavy metal objects, and then inflicted numerous stab wounds on them and beheaded them.
The Soghd Regional court had previously sentenced all three to be shot.
