The chairman of the Katsina State chapter of Izala, Sheik Yakubu Musa, declared that Muslims would resist any attempt to abrogate capital punishment in Nigeria, saying that doing so will be tantamount to tampering with Sharia law, the Islamic legal system. "If the agents of the Godless Europe and American insist on their plans to abrogate capital punishment to spite Islam then Muslims will go to any length to frustrate them," he said, warning that the country will be the worse for any attempt to trample upon the rights of Nigerian Muslims by agents of Western powers. "Since God has enjoined that those who wilfully kill should be killed there is no power on earth competent enough to reverse this divine law," he asserted.
