The deputy chairman of the Armenian National Assembly described his recent visit to London as "extremely packed and useful". Tirana Torosyan said that during meeting with the British Foreign Office "we discussed the state of the obligations adopted by Armenia when joining the Council of Europe. When I said that we had fulfilled all the obligations except the one concerning abolition of the death penalty, because of the 27 October [shootings in the Armenian parliament], they understood us and said that, should the question be raised in PACE [Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe], their delegates would support Armenia's position."
