The Florida Bar's Board of Governors sent a proposal the Florida Supreme Court asking the court to consider the issue of allowing anyone already convicted of a crime to be given 2 years to seek DNA testing. Currently, convicts have no avenue to seek DNA testing to exonerate them unless a request was made within 2 years of their conviction. The court could extend the deadline, giving inmates an unlimited amount of time.
