The Hanoi People's Court in Vietnam sentenced to death Nguyen Van Tuyen, 40, after finding him guilty of stabbing his partner in the neck with a screwdriver and beating her with a hoe on July 4, 2003.
She died in hospital three hours after the assault.
The incident happened after she asked local authorities to prevent Tuyen, a construction worker, from visiting her house because he repeatedly beat both her and her daughter, the Vietnam News Agency said.
