Powell, 43, was convicted Tuesday in Lucas County Common Pleas Court in the deaths Nov. 11 of 2 women and 2 children.
Killed in the blaze were Mary Rose McCollum, 33; her mother, Rose Mary McCollum, 52, and 2 children, Ms. McCollum’s adopted son, Jamal, 4, and her cousin, Sanaa’ Thomas, 2.
All 12 jurors had to agree on the death penalty. Otherwise, Powell would have been sentenced to life in prison.
