The Legal Daily reported that the Zhengzhou Intermediate People's Court, in Henan Province, sentenced Chen Bingkun to death for financial fraud. It was alleged that in March 1996, the Henan Overseas Taiwanese Economic and Trade General Corporation entrusted Chen with the daily operation work of Gongyi Yiluo Credit Cooperatives. In May 1996, Chen allegedly used three copies of fake financial certificates to transfer 3.75m yuan to an account in Yingyang. In June 1996, he reportedly produced five false financial certificates to swindle 13.5m yuan in public funds, the paper added.
