The "Orinats Yerkir" party is for abolition of the capital punishment in Armenia, Chairman of the Armenian National Assembly and Leader of the party, Arthur Baghdasaryan, said at a press-conference. He said the autumn session of the Parliament must ratify Protocol No.6 of the European Human Rights Convention. Baghadasaryan also pointed out the necessity to create task groups to improve the country's laws. He spoke in favour of decriminalisation of the country's legislation. Thus, he said, economic sanctions and not criminal measures of punishment should be applied for economic crimes. Baghadasaryan also said he was against the measures of punishment fixed in the Criminal Code.
