The Shanghai No 2 Intermediate People's Court sentenced to death Gu Xuehua for kidnapping and killing a five-year-old boy. It was alleged that Gu killed Dong at his residence and dismembered his body, throwing the parts into a small river. Gu then called the boy's father, seeking a 50,000-yuan (US$6,024) ransom.
