The Taleban Minister of Information and Culture Mowlawi Qudratollah Jamal, denied the opposition allegations regarding the killing of a number of opposition prisoners. Jamal said "on the contrary, it is the opposition which has executed thousands of Taleban who had not committed any crime or sin."
With regard to the exchange of prisoners agreed at the Jiddah meeting, the minister said that the Taleban have always supported this exchange. He pointed out that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan had unilaterally released 23 opposition prisoners as a gesture of good will.
