The Ukrainian parliament ratified Protocol 13 to the Convention on Protection of Human Rights and Basic Freedoms concerning the abolition of death penalty under all circumstances

The Ukrainian parliament ratified Protocol 13 to the Convention on Protection of Human Rights and Basic Freedoms concerning the abolition of death penalty under all circumstances. Member states which have signed the Council of Europe protocol commit themselves to the abolition of capital punishment. Not a single person can be convicted to death or executed . Ukraine pledged to abandon the death penalty after it joined the Council of Europe in the autumn of 1995.
