Three convicts were awarded death sentences with heavy fines by local courts in different murder cases. Sialkot district & session Judge Ch. Zafar Hussain awarded a death sentence with a fine of Rs.100,000 to Shabbir Ahmed for killing a youth on March 8, 1996. The Sialkot additional district & session Judge Najamul Hassan awarded a death sentence with a fine of Rs.50,000 to convict known as Imtiaz for killing an old lady in her house on April 12, 2000. In another murder case, the Judge also awarded a death sentence with a fine of Rs.50,000 to a convict named as Sajjad for a murder committed on August 23, 2001.
