Three people suspected of plotting to rob a restaurant in Mombasa were shot dead by police in a cold blooded execution, bystanders said. They accused police of shooting the three after they had already surrendered and were lying face down on the ground. One policeman drew a pistol and shot each one in turn in the head, they claimed. Detective Mohammed Maalim said they were shot only after they defied an order to surrender and instead drew a pistol. A Beretta pistol and six rounds of ammunition were recovered from the men, who were shot dead at the town's Makadara Grounds.
