Three young men, all convicted of killing girlfriends, were executed in Beijing. Zhang Haifeng, a 22-year-old farmer from Inner Mongolia, reportedly killed his girlfriend with a knife on 30 November 2001 because the girl refused to continue their relationship. Xiao Shifeng, 21, broke up with his girlfriend Song on 1 January 2002, he then stabbed her to death the next day. Tian Zuyuan strangled his girlfriend following a quarrel.
