Tika Ram, a citizen of Nepal, was sentenced to death for murdering five members of a family in India in 1996. Observing that there was "reliable and clinching" evidence against the convict Additional Session Judge C K Chaturvedi ordered that "he be hanged till death". It was alleged that whilst Ram was working as domestic servant in a house in Vasant Kunj in South Delhi, he murdered five people, including the master of the house, his wife Sobha, their daughter, their son and another servant. The victims, police alleged, were clubbed to death in a horrendous manner using a hammer and a sharp-edged weapon.
