Tofazzal Hossain was sentenced to death by a district and additional sessions court in Bangladesh for killing his wife on January 31, 1998. The prosecution said unemployed Tofazzal was dependent on his wife Meherjan who worked in a factory to earn their livelihood and that he killed her after one of the frequent quarrels they had regarding his dependence on his wife's earnings.
