Two Egyptians were sentenced to death for raping a woman and two other men jailed for helping kidnap the victim.
Said Hussein, 36, and Tarek Zaki, 29, were sentenced to death by the criminal court in the southern city of Guizeh for kidnapping a woman as she walked home after getting out of a taxi in late 2002.
They dragged her into fields on the outskirts of the city where they both raped her. Sayed Sobhi and Salah Amshir, found guilty of assisting an abduction, but not rape, were jailed for five and 15 years respectively.
Egypt's highest Sunni Muslim authority approved the four sentences, but the men could appeal.
