Two of the world's biggest alleged drug barons, languishing in a high-security jail near Sydney, gave up their fight against extradition to the US after American authorities agreed not to execute them.
Spaniard Rios Francisco Balderamma, 32, and his Mexican cohort Armando Eduardo Quiroz, 33, will be escorted back to America by US marshals within six weeks after they abandoned their extradition appeal on February 9.
The federal Government initially refused to send the duo home because Australian law prevents anyone being extradited to a country where they face the death penalty.
