Two Zambians were sentenced to death for armed robbery - one for stealing a bicycle and the other for stealing about £70.
Lusaka Judge Gregory Phiri sentenced Mabvuto Jere, 27, to death by hanging for using an assault rifle to steal a bicycle.
The death sentence is mandatory in Zambia for armed robbery. "My hands are tied by the law," Judge Phiri said.
In a separate armed robbery case, Phiri sentenced Simon Mudenda to death for stealing 415,000 kwacha (£70).
