five men convicted of aggravated robbery and sentenced to death in Uganda by the High Court escaped the gallows when the Court of Appeal acquitted them. Bikwata Namb-ogo, Pascal Namanga, Alozio Walimbwa, Maso-boni Magumba and John Wamanga were sentenced to death in 2002 by High Court judge Faith Mwondha. Justices Alice Mpagi-Bahigeine, Christine Binayiisa-Kitumba and Steven Kavuma acquitted the men as the conviction did not take into the account their alibis.
