USA - Alabama. The House passed HB 59 to expand the death penalty

The House of Representatives voted 102-0 to concur in a May 23 (see) Senate amendment to name HB 59 after a police officer recently killed in the line of duty. HB 59 would expand the state's death-penalty statute to make the killing of a first responder a capital offense. Both houses of the legislature unanimously approved the bill, which now goes to Gov. Kay Ivey for her signature.
