USA - Florida. Judge Brantley Clark sentenced Kevin Jeffries to death

Circuit Judge Brantley Clark upheld the jury's recommendation and sentenced Kevin Jeffries, 29, White, to the death penalty and two consecutive life terms in prison. Jeffries was convicted in the April 4, 2013 killing of Wallace Scott, 90. The man was bound and tortured in an effort to obtain his ATM PIN, but he refused to give up the information before being murdered and then robbed at his home. David Ian Challender, Jeffries’ cousin, pleaded guilty earlier this month for his role in the murder and was sentenced to three consecutive life sentences. Jeffries' girlfriend and conspirator, Ashley Griffin was sentenced to 60 years on Friday. Griffin pleaded guilty to 2nd-degree murder during the trial phase and was eligible for a sentence as long as life in prison. “Jeffries had the same opportunity to enter a plea deal for a life sentence as his co-defendant did, but for whatever reason, known only to him he wanted a trial,” said Walter Smith, Defense Attorney.
