Circuit Judge Philip Federico sentenced Khadafy Mullens, 29, to 2 death sentences. 7 video surveillance cameras captured the homicides of Mohammad Uddin and Ronald Hayworth at the Central Food Mart on Aug. 17, 2008. Federico's sentence was unusual because it was made without a recommendation from a jury. On April 29, Mullens pleaded guilty to all the charges he was facing - 2 counts of 1st-degree murder and 1 count of attempted 1st-degree murder - without anything promised in return, even though prosecutors were seeking the death penalty.
