USA - Florida. Judge Robert Belanger sentenced Andrew Michael Gosciminski again to death
1 MIN READ
Judge Robert Belanger in Fort Pierce today sentenced Andrew Michael Gosciminski again to death. A jury on Oct. 9 (see) voted 9-3 for the execution of Gosciminski for the Sept. 24, 2002 killing of Joan Loughman, 53. It's the second time Gosciminski, now 56, was found guilty of the murder and the 2nd time a judge sentenced him to die. Another jury convicted him of killing Loughman in 2005, but the Florida Supreme Court last year ruled that prosecutors had improperly introduced evidence and ordered a new trial. Prosecutors said Gosciminski killed her so he could steal $40,000 worth of jewelry. Judge Belanger also sentenced Gosciminksi to life in prison for burglary and robbery charges stemming from the same crime. (see also April 29 and June 7, 2005; October 8, 2008).
