USA - Florida. Jury recommended the death penalty for Eric Kurt Patrick

Jury recommended the death penalty for Eric Kurt Patrick, 46. The jury of 12 had already convicted the man of  beating, strangling and robbing Steven Schumacher, 72, in his home. The 10-time convicted felon confessed to the September 2005 slaying of Schumacher, an openly gay man, saying he beat Schumacher because he came onto him. Circuit Judge Ilona Holmes will hold another hearing on Aug. 21 and 22 before scheduling a sentencing date.
